Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Nationwide Children's Hospital

Job Description

Nationwide Childrens Hospital and the Department of Psychiatry at The Ohio State University College of Medicine are currently seeking talented BE/BC Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join our Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and team of Behavioral Health Services professionals.

The division currently has 25 child/adolescent psychiatrists and is looking to expand. Nationwide Children's has made a substantial commitment to invest in psychiatric and behavioral health services, as they are a key component of the hospitals strategic plan for growth. Nationwide Childrens Behavioral Health Services is one of the largest pediatric behavioral health service lines in the United States. It fosters a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to mental health care that integrates psychiatry, psychology, community mental health, and related developmental pediatric behavioral health services at Nationwide Childrens and the Ohio State University. Outpatient psychiatric services have comprehensive nursing support.

The ideal candidate should have excellent clinical, educational and administrative skills. An interest in clinical research is encouraged but not required. At a minimum, candidates should be eligible for a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment. The position offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package. The candidate must be eligible to obtain a license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio.

Over the past year, Nationwide Childrens launched a state-of-the-art inpatient unit, expanded behavioral health crisis services in the emergency department, opened a new psychiatry outpatient clinic and started an intensive outpatient program for adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders. Though there are opportunities in both outpatient and inpatient services, there is particular interest in recruiting for the following positions:

Emergency / crisis psychiatry: working with a team of clinicians to provide consultation to the Nationwide Childrens emergency department and on the crisis observation unit.

School-based services: collaborating with a team of clinicians who are based in over twenty schools and providing outpatient psychiatric services for referred youth.

Community-based services: providing psychiatric team leadership for clinicians working in the home and the community and providing outpatient psychiatric services for youth in these programs.

Named to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World Reports 2017-18 list of Americas Best Childrens Hospitals, Nationwide Childrens Hospital is one of Americas largest not-for-profit freestanding pediatric healthcare systems providing wellness, preventive, diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitative care for infants, children and adolescents, as well as adult patients with congenital disease.

Nationwide Childrens has a staff of nearly 13,000 providing state-of-the-art pediatric care during more than 1.4 million patient visits annually. As home to the Department of Pediatrics of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, Nationwide Childrens physicians train the next generation of pediatricians and pediatric specialists. The Research Institute at Nationwide Childrens Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health-funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the U.S., supporting basic, clinical, translational and health services research at Nationwide Childrens.
