Job Description


This Utilization Management manager is responsible for 3 facilities, including UH Elyria, UH Parma & UH Samaritan as a regional leader for UM overseeing UM nurses and assistants who are responsible for patient status criteria, status, authorization supporting payment for inpatient care. The role is an integral part of the care team and vital to the clinical and business outcomes of each patient.


The manager will lead utilization management practice, for a designated group of hospitals, in collaborating with all members of the health care team, patient and family (or significant others) to coordinate timely and efficient delivery of required services to result in:

  • Positive patient health care outcomes
  • Appropriate reimbursement
  • Improved efficiency
  • Improved inpatient throughput
  • Increased patient/health care team satisfaction

  • Minimum 5 years clinical nursing experience required
  • Minimum 3 years of utilization review or case management experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program, Bachelor's degree required.  Master's preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of the care continuum, alternate environments of care
  • Experience in a management or supervisory position required
  • Project Management skills
  • Patient care process and clinical analysis skills
  • CCM certification preferred
